The holiday season is a delightful time for many reasons, including the traditional songs we hear year after year. Despite hearing these songs hundreds of times a year, year in and year out, it is sometimes difficult to actually remember the words to the tunes.

Here are several Christmas songs as I remember them.

Oh Christmas Tree!

Oh Christmas Tree! Oh Christmas Tree!
You are a great big Christmas Tree!
Some of you is green, and some is brown.
The part that’s brown is in the ground.
Oh Christmas Tree! Oh Christmas Tree!
You are indeed a Christmas Tree!

Oh Christmas Tree

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

God rest ye merry gentlemen!
Let nothing you dismay.
That Christ our Lord and Savior
Is born on Christmas Day!
To give us all some eggnog powder
I think that’s what they say
All tidy for comfort and joy
Comfort and joy
All tidy for comfort and joy

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

Silver and Spoons

Silver and spoons!
Silver and spoons!
You may not have silver,
But you’ll always have spoons!

Silver and Spoons

Good King Winchell (?)

Good King Winchell
Had a feast
With salmon and some biscuits
People had some seconds
And gravy most delicious

Good King Winchell

We Three Kings!

We three kings of Orient are
Bearing gifts we travers afar
Fields and fountains
Stream and fountains
Fountains and a great big star

We Three Kings

White Christmas

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where sleigh bells tinkle
And dew drops glisten
Even though the grass is covered in snow.
Oh-h-h-h, I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
And I hope your Christmas is merry and bright
And may all of your Christmases be white, yeah!

Greensleeves

Alas, greensleeves, that is your name
And I guess it's because you wear green sleeves
Why is there a song about a lady, a lady who
Just wears green sleeves.

Jingle Bells

Jingle Bells
Jingle Bells
Jingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to ride
On a one horse soaping slay! Hey!
Dashing through the snow!
In a carriage made of clay!
Over the fields we go!
Laughing as we say...
Tee Hee Ho ho ho
Belting bobcats' rings
Scaring spirits frights
What fun it is to laugh and such
A sleighing song tonight!
Oh jingle bells
Jingle bells
Jingle bell bell bell
What fun it is to sing and cry
A sleighing song, alright!

The Little Drummer Boy

I don't want to play
I just want to bang on this drum all day!
Pa-rumpa-pum-pum.
