Substack
Ok, this post is a little long. And self-serving. So, really a win-win situation.
I'm going to try something new. If you like my writing - whether it be quick fiction or SNL recaps, or whatever - I am adding a Substack to my publishing empire.
It is here: The Howling Monkey
This is for people who:
1. Want to support my writing on the cheap;
2. Want to get content by email; or
3. Just like Substack for some reason.
For now, I plan to keep publishing stuff for free on The Howling Monkey website. I may start taking down stuff off of there after a period of time, though.
And, if you are interested in subscribing on an annual basis, I am running a 20 % discount on the already low price through the end of the month. This discount will be good forever. Here's the link: Howling Monkey Discount Code
You can subscribe for free, but the free content will be somewhat limited. It will, however, let you know by email when there's new material, which will likely still be placed on the Howling Monkey website for now.
Why am I doing this? Accountability, mainly. I figure if I value my art (I know, pretentious...), then maybe I'll commit to it more. Maybe I'll treat it more professionally if I know people are actually willing to pay for it.
Also, I could use a free cup of coffee from time to time, so what the heck.
If you want to support my writing, one of the best ways to do it now is to subscribe to my Substack. For now, I will keep putting stuff here for free, but will pull the pieces down after a month or so. I’ll keep the full archive of ongoing work available on Substack for paid subscribers.. So, if you think this is worth a few bucks and you like receiving the content as a newsletter, give it a shot. Through the end of June, new subscribers to an annual plan (which is already pretty low) can get 20% off, which will last as long as you keep the subscription. In any case, you can also get a seven-day free trial.
